Max Verstappen — Jeddah 2021 Lap Recreation

"WHAT IF ONE OF F1'S GREATEST LAPS... WAS COMPLETED?"

My Role

  1. Car modeling and texturing

  2. Track design and animation layout based on real-life references

  3. Rigging, animation, and racing line movement

  4. Visual effects and motion design

  5. Sound design – synced with actual F1 engine recordings

  6. Video editing and post-processing to deliver a cinematic final cut

Overview

As a passionate F1 and Max Verstappen fan, I recreated one of my favorite qualifying laps—his iconic (but incomplete) Jeddah 2021 lap. In real life, Max crashed into the barrier in the final sector, unable to finish what could’ve been one of the greatest laps in F1 history.

This project is my interpretation of what the full lap would’ve looked like had he completed it.

My Approach

  1. Used F1 2021 game footage to extract authentic engine sounds & ambience.

  2. Studied the real-life qualifying lap from 3 camera angles for accurate racing line animation.

  3. Matched Max's real driving style with accurate transitions and speed changes.

Goal

This was more than just animation, it was a tribute.

I wanted to show what could’ve been, blending storytelling with technical precision to create an alternate version of F1 history.
